Texting as a Learning Tool

Texting is an informal way of communication. Texting is regularly through phone while it can also be through other sites.

Texting can be used as an activity such as this one, "Use texting to launch discussions on formal versus informal language, comparing syntax, language, grammar, and usage of text and IM [instant messaging] with formal, written English. Recognize that testing IS writing! Although it may not be traditional writing, every text and instant message your students send is engaging them with language and print. Take advantage of student activities to build relevant lessons on writing for different audiences and purposes (LD Online)." Where texting is not a great way of formal grammar, and show choices of improvement. However, it can also create an easier way to create brainstorming and discussions.

We live texting, and maybe it is just the way to connect with our students. Might as well, take what they do everyday and make a learning experience.
